STORY

Alex Summers was only two years old when a plane crash took his parents and his brother from him. Alex and Scott survived the accident, but they were separated in foster care by a sinister man. Alex was placed with the Master family in Southern California.

The Masters family had lost a son already, Todd. Todd was a mode athlete and boyscout and the family tried to shape Alex into his replacement. Their surviving child, Haley, was one of Alex's few friends. An incident when his powers manifested were covered up by Mr. Sinister, but the Masters family was horrified and distant from then on. Alex eventually escaped to college, where he studied Geology. When the uprising against mutants began, stress and developing powers made it hard for Alex to hide.

Alex received his first power inhibitor from Bolivar Trask, a government agent who put Alex to work collecting data on mutants for his "studies." When Alex discovered that his data was being used to create machines to hunt and destroy mutants, he fled the facility.

From May 2009-January 2010 Alex was at the school, training and sharing his knowledge of the Sentinels. Alex fell in love with Lorna Dane and shortly they were expecting a child. During the fall an attack on the Blackbird left everyone thinking Alex was dead. Really he had woken up in a Colorado hospital without his memory as it was being suppressed by a telepath under control of the Sentinel project. Alex got his memory back when Jean killed the telepath.

Alex and Lorna were married on New Year's Eve and soon after Alex's social worker, Nathaniel Essex, kidnapped Lorna to cut the baby out of her for cloning. Scott and Jean came to her rescue and she was only out of the ward for a few days when Sentinels attacked the school.

When Magneto made his announcement, Alex had no doubts where he was prepared to go.
